Hi each :)

I`m after a little help with the Comp Video output, I have a 7" TFT color monitor that I use with all things Comp Vid, but mainly with Arduino based kit, the sort that uses the 1k and 470 Ohm resistors and TV-Out library.
it works perfectly and I have a nice little collection of Arduino based games all built into tobacco tins that my kids enjoy.
it also works with other Comp Vid inputs such as the BBC Micro.
so I think I can pretty much rule out Monitor problems, also it will automatically detect and sync to PAL or NTSC without a prob.

I`m trying to drive it with DMs in specific the DM Mini and the standard DM, I even have the UEXT port adaptor for the audio jacks and RCA Video jacks.
I simply cannot get any sort of output to display?

I read that it will auto detect if a VGA mon is plugged in and switch to that, so I tried with and without, I`v tried Both boards, I`v tried commoning the GNDs and tapping about the DMs pins with the center lead of the coax to try find a signal, and Nothing! :(

Both boards are working perfectly and I`v reflashed them with ver 2.7a (to get the sound working and stuff).

so I`m at a total loss here as what I`m doing wrong, I`ll lay wager that it`s something really simple that I`m overlooking (usually the case!).

I`d be really pleased if this can get sorted, then all I`ll need to find is a really small PS2 KBD, and I`m well on my way to building a Laptop Version, these things are too Cool to be stuck on a work bench :)

Thanks in Advance.

Hi YT,

Your best bet is to try the DuinoMite Support forum located HERE

also try updating the firmware to Jan-17, firmware can be found HERE

NOTE the most stable version to install IMHO is the one listed as Jan-17-2012, the others are more Devolopment releases for testing specific routines...

There was an issue with VGA detect on powerup with an early version but this only occured on the DM standard and the DM Mega, this is definatly fixed in the Jan-17 version... The Mini doesnt have a composite out port so must be a special connector you are using.....

PS. The mini didnt have this VGA detect problem.....

Try the Jan-17 version (was in earlier releses too but I cant remeber specifically which version it got fixed in) and if that doesnt work then try posting a question on the DM forum listed above,

Regards,

Mick

The DM has 2 Sockets that that adaptor board CAN plug into
IT is not the UEXT Socket, but the other Socket that it needs to be plugged into.

Plus do not have any VGA monitor plugged in at same time.

Thanks each :)

I`v got it working now, and have upgraded both boards to the Jan 17`th edition (2.7B).
I had a look at the schematics for these boards and also did a little continuity testing of the Audio/Comp vid/VGA add-on board for the DM standard, and I can pull the Comp vid from the VGA port directly as long as it doesn`t have a proper VGA cable in there on power-up.
so I recon with a bare VGA plug and 3 resistors it should take about 5 mins to make a comp vid cable ideal for the job.
VGA`s nice, but desk realestate is at a premium here, and I could do without the extra monitor! :)

Cheers`n`Beers ;)
