Wow, good post Olimex.

I like the knock sensor!

Reminds me of the TRS-80 days making sounds by buzzing the TapeDeck control Relay
We all thought it was great until the relay crapped out.

Using LED as light sensor

during the weekend I also made color sensor with just 4 LEDs: RED, GREEN, BLUE, WHITE and experiment to write code which to recognize what light you irradiate over the "sensors"

GREEN and BLUE are too close and can't be well separated but I will work some more this evening on the algorthm, hopefully tomorrow will post the Duinomite recognizes colors project

Very interesting Olimex and I look forward to the results.
I suppose you are aware that leds have been used as the sensors for solar panel trackers for quite some time.

Great Idea;
Reminds me of the early days when you could scrape some black paint of the OC71 Transistor to use as a optotransistor or as a light Sensor.

Tavetan, have done any experimenting on SMD led's

any LEDs will do the job, the more bright the LED is more sensitive it is also
also the sensiticity decrease in this order
RED->GREEN->BLUE->WHITE

red LEDs for some reason are most sensitive and respond to any light source.

all LEDs obviously respond to White light but with different sensitivity

Hello Tsevtan,

I am very impressed with the experiments that you are carrying out especially the
mod-gsm development. My question, is there a similar board available that will be suitable to operate on the Australian 3G network. I ask this because the GSM network doesn't work in rural or remote areas where 3G is often available.

Many thanks,

Tim.

Hi Tim,
there are 3G modules but they are very new and expensive
we have at the moment MOD-GSM-EDGE which is 236kbps

Tsvetan,

Are you using CLEAR LENS LEDs?
