Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Having three monitors and two keyboards on my desktop is just taking up too much valuable space... I use a dual monitor setup for my PC and one for the Maximite (two keyboards, one USB the other PS2 for the Maximite). I also have a Duinomite which I have only been connecting to via TeraTerm from the PC. While TeraTerm is great, the loss of graphics capability is sometimes a pain. Some years ago it was quite common to find Switches that would allow one Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor setup to be control various PC's by selecting a switch (usually up to four machines), but as remore desktop software became more popular the need for physical switches has diminished. I was wondering if anybody has faced and solved a similar issue? There are manual switches like the one at the bottom of this page - which look like they come from the early 90's! I am thinking of this type of setup which should still allow me to use the second monitor for the PC when required as well as switch over to the MM and DM as well as switching between them... Any ideas/tips as a result of your experience are greatly appreciated... Cheers. |

The switch you link to will work as would one of these . Which are designed to have one monitor/keyboard/mouse with four PCs (or Maximites for that matter). For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED. |

Alternately, some monitors have multiple inputs, and you can switch between them. That's what I use. It's not nearly as tidy as your plan though. My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening through a cosmic vapor of invention. Hedley Lamarr, Blazing Saddles (1974) |
