Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

On DuinoMite Mega Rev. C schematic - RTS / CTS mapped to what Pin(s)#?

Since Mega Com5: = MaxiMite Com1: then I believe/guess flow control is on Pin #17 (RTS) & Pin# 18(CTS)?

Am I correct?

Crikey, all these hardware variations are getting pretty darn confusing.

I think if parties want to start commercialising their own variations of the Maximite then maybe they need to run their own support forums?

Good idea ... better yet, just have a hardware section per MaxiMite variation.
That way a user will go to the hardware section which interest him/her.
The admin people should do it know to split the topics per MaxiMite variation before
it is too late.

Well this section of the forum is "Maximites, Picaxes and other micro controllers"
so i would say DuinoMite would fit here

I am the one that was responsible for making the new hardware happen, so I'll place myself in that group.

I got the distinct impression we were welcomed here. I was even speaking to Glenn, the forum moderator about it this morning.

I guess the thread name of DuinoMite just doesn't cut it for all users.

Should I drop MaxiMite support answers too, and all the valuable Maximite information I have gathered on my blog pages, as we must make a clear distinction between MaxiMite and DuinoMite?

BTW
There is a new Maximite-DuinoMite group starting off at:
http://www.electro-tech-online.com/maximite-duinomite/

They started off by calling it a MaxiMite-DuinoMite group, so you may well end up with more Dino, and less Maxi there. I guess that won't suit either.

And I know there will be more groups starting soon too.
I would be wanting to keep the key players in this group, but your mileage may differ.

Cheers Don...

EDIT PS, Sorry Andy, I would have to chase the data sheets to find that out. Some one will know a little more than me on this subject.Edited by donmck 2011-11-22

hi
RTS and CTS are passing through the RS232 driver but by default are not connected to any of the PIC32 pins, they are available as two separate pins left down next to Arduino POWER CON1 header marked as CTS and RTS, so you can easily connect them to any of the GPIOs

Don,

Sorry if my post seemed a bit harsh, but there's a lot of commercial morphing going on of Geoff's IP, it seems without a lot of R&D happening. Products are rushed to market and a lot of users are becoming the beta testers of both hardware and firmware.

It's a hard line to tread, I agree that more interest in the Maximite is good for the MM community but there is a danger that all this noise will drown what is a good solid idea.

Geoff does an excellent job at supporting his open source project (all for free) as does Glenn and this forum. I'm only suggesting that commercial producers take on the direct support of the peculiarities of their incarnations of the MM. Maybe there could be a sticky post that points to the contacts for hardware manufacturers for direct support.

I'm a bit surprised the Olimex guys don't have a DM forum (as they have a Pinguino forum for their 8-bit & 32-bit non-DM boards). There again, their posts here have often been really useful (IMO) - such as some really detailed hardware differences.

I guess it's up to Glenn, Don and Geoff as to what's covered where & who posts what.

I don't get the feeling there are so many people that it's unwieldy as yet, but maybe I'm wrong.

Whenever MMBasic is involved I can see a common (as in central) forum makes sense. Not so sure when it's hardware about a specific board but nothing dire seems to be going wrong so far :)

If Don's selling / has sold pretty much all/any of the boards then I guess all of them probably belong on somewhere Don hangs out but I'm happy to be corrected!

I don't know Geoff but I think people would gain most if he didn't do "support" so much as had his time left free to (a) earn a living and (b) design & code any enhancements he thinks are a good idea. (Not saying anyone thinks otherwise.)Edited by JohnS 2011-11-23

Hi Guy's,
I have posted on a couple of different forums about the Maximite/ Duinomite and it was the owner of the Electro-tech site that approached me with the idea of that new sub forum. With Electro-tech being an electronic based site and with several moderators to keep the piece I can see it being a success only if you guys really want to see just how far this can go. Too many times threads on here take a tangent and the important information is impossible to find. It does seem no real development of shields and breakout boards have been dealt with here and I'm sure if guy's want to design some and have any troubles with the circuit THEN that other forum will be the best place as other senior members will jump in a help with any hardware design troubles.
The intention of that other forum IS to spread the word about this great project so it CAN move forward and go to the greatness it deserves. Not take anything away from this forum either.
Also I made a thread on a RE based forum and when I get some RE projects done myself I will post them over there too as the more we spread the word th better it will be for everyone.

I for one vote for Gizmo to delete EVERY NEGATIVE POST off this forum as the bickering that has gone on is only hurting this great project.

Come On guy's aint we all grown up and if you want to go bicker about it, go head butt a tree and see who comes out in front. Posting negative comments only hurts the offending member so whats the point ???????

Regards Bryan
