Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Folks,

I have just got my Maximite to send emails, without a PC.

It is done via the functionality provided on my Ethernet board thanks to the XPort module.

The emails can be triggered in 2 ways;

By toggling one (or more) of the 3 GPIO pins on the XPort that are connected through to the Maximite. eg PIN(14) = high will trigger a pre-configured email.

or

By setting a 1 or 2 code serial sequence that the maximite can send via its serial port.

The emails are preconfigured and very simple (in fact they contain no message body, just a subject that you can set)
However if you had a few alarm conditions that you wanted to know about, it would do the job.

I have got it talking through my ISP's (BigPond) mail server.

Cheers

Rohan

Having that email sending code snippet for download it exactly what I refer to in my most recent post to your board announcement topic.

That sounds very interesting and makes me consider your boards even more for some future projects I'm planning.
