Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have put together a draft Quick Reference for MMBasic for an earlier v2.6 firmware release. The details on FONT and other recent additions has not been made, but if anybody cares to take a look and offer some feedback, I'll update it with the newer features and whatever (constructive) feedback comes back. I had hoped to get a double-sided, three-fold layout, but there are too many details to pack into that format...

Hi @crakerjack,

Nice work but I would like to see a delimitation between functions name and description. On "Statements" is ok, is easy to find a statement, but on "Functions" the names are some how hidden by the descriptions (which in some places are on two rows), is too smooth and hard to find something fast at first sight. I need to be able to pick fast a function I'm looking for, then to read the description.

Excellent job!

I should have 2.7 out in about three weeks, after that I don't plan any changes for a long while - so that would make a good time for you to update and publish the final version.

I agree with Vasi that the functions are rather hard to follow. Do you need a description of each function for a memory jogger? You didn't need them for the commands.

Getting it onto two pages would be good. Would smaller margins help?

Also one little bug: "Number variable names are terminated with a $ symbol" is not right.

Thanks for the suggestions...

I have made some changes and included references to features added in v2.6D
I will update the quick reference once v2.7 is made available and I'll publish it on the forum.

Meanwhile if you spot any whopping errors (or omissions), let me know - I'll correct them as I have time.

This may just help you from flipping through the manual to lookup syntax and codes... I am hoping it will help me. I have not tried printing this version as yet, but it should be possible to create a single double-sided tri-fold reference card.

Enjoy...

Sure, Tsvetan. It is for everyone interested in the Maximite to use however they wish.

Cheers.

crackerjack, thanks for the MM quick reference. Just printed a copy. Only thing I would change is the font. I find the lower case letters a bit small for these old eyes.

I'll also keep a copy at:

BTW, great work. A really good reference that I know will be used by many.

Cheers Don...

Greg, to ensure the Quick Reference could be printed on a single double-sided sheet of paper, I had to reduce the font size to what it is. May I suggest printing on an A3 sheet if you have access to a printer capable of doing that. That would give you a "poster-sized" reference which would be more readable. My concern is that the colour choices I made might cause some issues with the many (mostly men) who suffer from Daltonism (colour-blindness).

As an aside, there is a little spare space at the end of the 2nd page which I expect might just be consumed with the "goodies" Geoff has in store with version 2.7 coming up in a few weeks...

Hopefully, that little space will not be enough ...

New version of the Quick Reference is available.

Changed the layout to utilise space better and included Codes for Pin Configs on the SETPIN commands (which I can never remember).

Post it wherever you like. The more info we have on the Maximite and MMBasic the better for all...

Cheers.
