Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

HI,

I just got my maximite a few days ago and have exploring its capabilities and generally enjoying the experience, I have one small question/problem though at the moment,
When I got my board I didnt notice that it had vers 2.3c I think on it, I attached my donduino cross board and the arduino sheild lcd from Don and all was working fine, I was able to open the terminal and cut and paste the LCD program from the software library ,no problem and all ran fine, I then saw the post re the new 2.6B upgrade,(this is when I checked and noticed I didnt have the latest vers)
So , I decided to upgrade the firmware ,and that all went fine,(didnt even have to load the required .net etc, worked as is on my pc)

.. anyway, after i upgraded the firmware when I tried to paste the lcd program into the terminal window I get corruptions, strangely it seems to drop the first character of some lines ie. line number 13100 would transfer as line 3100 etc, as you can imagine this causes problems, not only does it corrupt that line but also often overwrites another lines information too.

I downgraded the firmware to 2.6 but still have the same problem, if I copy the code line or two at a time I was able to transfer it all over.

Is this a bug, or (more likely) am I doing something wrong ? I am using 8,n,1 and hardware control although I also tried no flow control and no difference.

thanks for the great forum and hope to spend a lot of time here,

rgds,

Andrew

Use TeraTerm as your terminal program. Make sure you get the latest version, and not the one from a few years ago, that is still floating around.

Under Setup, Serial Port Setup, add a Transmit Delay of 1 msec/line

Unless you save a profile, you'll have to do this each session.

You can use any terminal program you want, as long as you can add a small transmit delay.

Thanks very much :) , that fixed the problem nicely .

Err hmmm, now... ;)

After the prob with pasting etc, I decided to give the sdcard a try, I keep getting "error accessing the SDcard" error when I try to save the file using save "lcd.bas" , if I try ? mm.errno it gives me error 15.

its a 4 gig new card today and it was formated using fat32, I reformatted it just in case but no difference, I also still have the cross and lcd etc plugged in, do I need to reset the mm after inserting the card or something ?

thanks,

Andrew

OK,

Don, fyi, the 4 GB dick smith brand sdhc card bought today seems to not be compatable, I tried also with an external 12v suppply but no change, I found another Agfa brand digital film card in a digital picture frame and its seems to be working now just fine.

back to my play :)

thanks guys,

Great Andrew, glad you found something that works.

Added both of those cards to the respective listings.

hmmmmm,

OK, so I thought I had everything worked out, but,

Now it seems the SD card reading and writing is intermittent, if i boot and then enter "files" if will just return with "Directory /" even thought I know there are several files on the card. If i eject and then re-insert the card and then try again it usually then shows the contents of the card.
Yesterday I found that after that if I tried to run a program from the card it would complain that the file didn't exist even though it had just listed it !!

After some rebooting with and without the card and further testing I eventually found that even though the listing was empty if I just saved a simple "test.bas" to the card it would then start working fine. and all yesterday everything was working ok mostly.

Then this morning I wanted to try and test the invaders snippet posted in another thread, and this required taking the card out and putting it into a PC to load the space.fnt file (which unfortunately cant be created, as far as I can see, within MM.basic itself, tried writing in append mode line by line even but resulted in a incompatible font file)
Anyway, after copying this file and cleaning up the card by removing some others I re-inserted the card into the Maximite. Now It seems no matter what, I am unable to run files on the card, I tried my save trick and it saved ok and "files" shows the contents after removing and then re-inserting the card but a "run" command then results in "no such file" type error and the "files" command again shows an empty card.

is anyone else experiencing this kind of trouble ?

I have tried again with and without external power and nothing seems to help. \

Seems that somehow after reading/writing in the PC something has changed ?

getting frustrated,

Andrew

Andrew, I'll forward this thread to Richard, the manufacture of the board, and see if he has some pointers. It may be a hardware fault.

Hi Don,

Well I just got it going again after trying saving a larger file, i re-inserted the card then without trying "files" I just saved the "invader.bas" file ,which I had pasted in via the terminal, to the card.
This worked and then I could run the file from the card.

But it is still misbehaving sometimes, as I said yesterday it was mostly fine all day, seems it is definitely an intermittent problem, but I am not sure if it is the reader or the card. I will try and get another card next week and let you know.

rgds,

Andrew

PS

I wonder if this may be the reason for the long list of cards that seem to be incompatible ? maybe people didn't persist as long as I did, perhaps the reader is a little more picky, is there any common features with the confirmed working cards ?
