Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I'm currently interfacing the MM to a previously flooded Rohde and Schwartz ESMC communications receiver via the much anticipated (on my part!) serial port. See the June Silicon Chip on the Flooded Gear article about the receivers I recovered after the Queensland floods in January. So far it's working a treat.. - Rob For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED. |

That was a good article Rob. I'm building a MM based wind/solar controller with logging, but time is short at ther moment so could take a few weeks. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

I'm working on a robot that maps an environment and can be requested to navigate to any location on it's own, all using a maximite. Dave Everett |

Something i have under development now that we have serial comms is to interface the maxmite to a Plasmatronics PL20 solar regulator and use the maximite to log various parameters Terry |

1. Currently playing using the published LCD code (ala James) and my serial terminal program to produce a dumb serial terminal. 2. From then on it's getting on with some comms with Picaxe chips with MM displaying data 3.Then onto using StampPlot and ModCom as GUI. 4.Then one day build up a home network primarily using picaxe components talking also to my Solar Inverter and using the MM as a VDU - by them a colour will be available on MM won't it ??? 5.And then using IP interface connect the whole thing to host web pages on the net. 6.If MM does not develop as quick as I hope then I may need to go back to Liberty Basic as the front end. If only I had more time..... RayB from Perth WA |

OK, if you're interested about the ESMC receiver control, I've updated my Bloggy bit here with a quick look at what I've done so far. - Rob. For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED. |

Hi Folks, I have mentioned a few of these projects in a short article due to appear in the December issue of Silicon Chip. No names or identifying details are used but please let me know if you would prefer your project to not be listed. John, your EVO pic will be in the same article. I've thought about building a reconaissance robot which uses SONAR to provide obstacle data over a low-bitrate but long-range radio link (instead of a raster image being sent back plot points are sent to save bandwidth), and it'll be manually controlled to an extent (it will have GPS so that you can set it to take pictures when it gets to a certain location.) The radio hardware will probably be those 433MHz 13dBm modules that MicroZed are now selling, and it'll use a camera with a serial output (a camera module from 4dsystems) to send the images to the SD card or over the radio link. In terms of automation the Maximite definitely seems powerful enough to not only take photos while moving but also think about where it's going. I'll probably do some serious work on it over Christmas. Capacitance is futile - roll on 2012! |
