Maximite Mark II from Olimex.

http://www.themaximitecomputer.com/maximite-mark-ii-from-oli mex/

Above is one of the three new boards we have coming from Olimex.

This one fits a plastic case measuring 130mm x 100mm x 30mm, and component slots will be laser cut.

Thanks guys,

Like to point out.
Just spoke with Geoff Graham, and he wants to reserve the name Maximite Mark II, so that is more than fine with me, as I have no preference, but I know we needed a new name.

So there will be a change of name shortly. We just need to come up with a suitable name to distinguish between the two very different units.

The 795 will need to be used for CAN of course, and initially we may use 695s on all (most?) units. The cost difference isn't that much, so we may eventually go to 795 on everything.

This could be a matter of what is readily available initially.

Geoff wants to reserve also Maximite name (legitimate wish anyway)?

My proposals:

1.Donmite:
- Donmite MMBasic Computer (or Donmite Arduino Computer)
- Donmite Duino
- Donmite Micro

2.Donimex:
- Donimex MMBasic Computer (or Donimex Arduino Computer)
- Donimex Duino
- Donimex Micro

Vasi

Edit______
3.Maxonics?
- Maxonics MMBasic Computer (or Maxonics Arduino Computer)
- Maxonics Duino
- Maxonics Micro

Actually, I tried combination of Don, Olimex, Dontronics, Maximite.

A big thank you everyone, we have had heaps of input for new names now, and it looks like we have settled on a new set, but I'll let the dust settle overnight and announce the new names tomorrow.

Then:
Hardware > Dontronics > Olimex > Prototype Pics

to get to the very rough pictures of the prototypes.

As you will see, even the spelling of the name Maximite is incorrect, but I am told the production runs will be looking a lot better than these.

I haven't bothered to crop and enhance the pictures at all, as better pictures will be coming.

I like them in the following order:
1. The boxed one (it is fantastic!)
2. The Micro (a little jewel)
3. The Duino (a regular one but still pretty)

Don,

I like the caption:

"Maximite is highly explosive. The others are just microcomputers."

But then I discovered that it's actually true!

Hex Nuts?
I wondered if the Olimex protos had these too.

Reset?
I think it is in all schematics. Someone may like to check.

They aren't physically fitted on the boxed proto, it looks like, but the artwork is there. On the left hand edge.

Please forgive me for starting a new thread, and redirecting this one.

I wanted to drop the mention of the old naming convention quickly, as Geoff Graham has plans for using this in future Silicon Chip Articles.

You will find more on this subject at:
http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4019&PN =1

You will find the new names used, as well as why these were chosen.
