Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Maximite microSD Card Access

If I designed a Maximite board into a case using a microSD card, would it be necessary to have the card accessible from the front panel?

This would mean you would have to pull the case apart, and possibly even remove the PCB from the case, as the microSD card may be under the PCB. (on the solder side of the board).

I may not agree with doing this myself at this stage, but I would like to hear what others have to say.

I also realize that Geoff may in future, give the firmware the ability to not even need a card for a final application.

Cheers Don...

Hi Don,

For a totally embedded application this might be fine, but being able to take the card out to back up programs is a bonus in the general version. So I'd say "it depends".

Rob (patiently awaiting the board I just ordered on Friday!)

unzip, strip, touch, finger, grep, mount, fsck, more, yes, fsck, fsck, fsck, umount, sleep

Thanks Rob,

We are looking at alternatives, and after kicking it around, we are starting to find them. Getting users opinions is valuable of course.

Re the order:
Altronics have on their web page currently:
Further production runs are scheduled for July & August delivery.

We should be shipping on Tuesday, and this could be followed up by 100 a week, for a number of weeks into the future. Well, this is what I have planned for.

Planning and actual facts can be two very different things.

Cheers Don...

Hi Don

Think of it as an internal HDD in a desktop case instead of as a floppy drive. It is still accessible by software or screw driver.
