Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

What I'm playing with this week..
INA219 I2C current and voltage sensor.

1st project, 18650 Battery Analyser.
Looking good, quite easy to use.

prototype uses a 4700 uF as the battery,
With an LED as the load.
Shortens the charge/discharge cycle time somewhat.
Waiting for the power resistors to arrive for the real test.

It Will be interesting to find out the real mAh
of the 4800 mAh Bangwell(TM) 18650 !
I'll let you know.

A more serious endeavour, a Lead-Acid Solar charger.

I bought one online for little money, great spec in theory.
Afraid the battery voltage control was 0.3 volts out.
Would kill your Lead-Acid prematurely.

A much better job could be done with Pico+INA219, maybe with a JDY-41

(was surprised not to find anything like that already on this site.)

Anyone interested  ??

Fruitoftheshed: INA219

I'm using the INA226 with Annex, monitoring some miniature 18V 1A solar panels to see what wintertime shading is like in the hopes of someday mounting real panels.

Here's a graph:

I am not confident that I have the calibration correct, but for my purposes, it doesn't matter--the comparison over the day is what is important for this exercise.

Write-up here

(My post followed by a long OT digression on a Stirling engine heat pump perpetual motion device.)

A year ago I lamented that nothing like this was available with wifi (from China), but was sure than in another year there would be. I was wrong.

I use the INA219 and also the 3 channel INA3221.
I like the 3221 but there is a bit of interaction between the channels. Yhat is probably due to my layoUt.
