Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Bridgeport Interact-4 CNC milling machine won't find it's home reference on the Z axis. Experts arrive and decide that the encoder inside the motor was bad and that they'd have to pull it out. No scope or anything to prove the theory and pulling the motor is quite a major operation. I wasn't having it and so I ran over with a PicoMite, programmed to read quadrature and the Index pulse (on interrupt). Motor is absolutely fine. Informed the experts that this little chip could out-perform the entire Heidenhain CNC controller, including the VDU Edited 2024-10-24 01:36 by PhenixRising |

And to top it all off, it's a YD-RP2040 (or other similar Chinese el cheapo relation) rather than a Pico! :) Such artistic wiring too. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |
