Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Well if you can see this then your looking at thebackshed.com on its new server at Webcentral. Now I think everything is working ok, but if you find any problems or notice anything weird, please let me know. Thanks Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Gee that was quick. I'll have to get one of those Supaman suits too. Get a few of those long overdue jobs done... Will keep an eye out for bugs, but seen none so far. They say the mark of a true professional is that he makes a complex job appear simple even to go unnoticed all together. Your score stays high with me. Well done and thanks for keeping the nuts and bolts glued together. was working fine... til the smoke got out. Cheers Gill _Cairns, FNQ |

Glenn, uploading the preview samples or other images doesn't seem to work; can this have anything to do with the migration to a new server, or is it a case of user-error? Switching browsers doesn't help. This is the error I get when trying to upload: ---------- Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3' Server.CreateObject Failed /Windmill/FORUM1/functions/functions_upload.asp, line 288 800401f3 ----------- |

Its working now. My mistake. When I first set up the forum on the new server, I had to go into the softwares configuration page and change a few parameters, including which upload component to use. Then on Thursday night I shut down the old server and copied the database onto the new server, which of course overwrote all the configurations I had set up ! I forgot about that. Thanks for the detailed report Dinges, makes my life a lot easier when someone cut/pastes the error message. Test Upload.... Talk about solving problems quickly... Thanks Glenn! Let me grab the opportunity to thank you for the time and effort you put in the board, to keep it running and operating smoothly. It usually goes unnoticed when things work properly... From a user point of view, the transition to the new server was painless. Not sure if the sysadmin feels the same about it though Peter. |

Glenn, I put this in another part of form but am having some trouble as explain below. I am just typing and letting it put in returns so do not know whats up. Only enter at a paragraph change. Typed this earlier trying to explain: Am only using Post Reply and only tried Word to see if would make a difference. Have taken normal text from Word and pasted into Post Reply and still comes out wrapped? At moment it seems to be unwrapped sometimes. Word wrap is turned on it seems? Even when you select text in the preview it highlights the blank space to the left and also in the form. And when you select just a quote from a reply it copies the whole thing in a different blank Post Reply and not the one you are working on? You say you use notepad, but then you still have to past it into Post Reply, where else can you post into this form? Or is this only me? ....River Heads - Australia The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. |

Hi RevItUp I tried using wordpad and it was OK. Sounds like it could be a little quirk in your Wordpad. Did you try Notepad? Just to see if this makes a difference? Webcentral is at http://www.webcentral.com.au I'm pretty happy with the service, costs about $90 per month to host TheBackShed and the site lives on a IIS server, my preference. If you need something more basic like a Apache server, you could find cheaper. Do a google search for Web Site Hosting. Thanks Glenn for quick response. Yes I phoned Webcentral and they are good but expensive and bit more than we need. But have found another on the Gold coast. Our website almost 15 years old and hosted by Domain Direct on the Gold Coast, but liked they have dropped off the face of the earth. Re Notepad etc., I am just using the Post Reply form and wondering why go elsewhere. This was typed in Notepad and in preview mode comes up wrapped. Thanks & cheers Peter ....River Heads - Australia The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. |

So even if you type directly into the Post Reply box, when you preview or save it wraps the text? That is weird. What browser are you using, and can you try a different browser to see if you have the same sympton? Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Am using google chrome which is a great program and have found very little wrong with it. Even better than Opera, I think. But will try in Opera and IEX and Firefox.... Well looks like Opera works. ....River Heads - Australia The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. |

Guess what browser I'm using now on this long sentence which will hopefully wordwrap. Its a Chrome bug/feature, cant see where to switch it off. I have installed Chrome and Firefox to test the web site formating, but I'm a IE fan myself. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |
