Just reviewed Off topic locked archive, gee we had some fun. Not meaning to be critical of Glen, it is his forum and he needs to keep it on topic.

Hi Alan ,, yep, sort of had fun back along those early days ,we were then into doing things ,I still try to fiddle with some of the old gear I have stored away ..

A very interesting move lately has been with that Kiwi guy fiddling around with those new type F&P stators and the new rotors he has my interest ,in so far ,I dragged out an old wind gennie that was useless ,and I'll think about re-constructing it with his new type stators,Etc.

How are yougoing up there in the jungle? you still got your "Jane" with you ?
Ilda and I are still battling along ,in and out of doctor,s clinics quite often ,nowdays. I'm into hospital tomorrow, they are interested in shoving a camera into my bladder--- hope they don,t find any problems..

Ok , mate , just saw your post ,thought I,d say "Hello" .

Hi Bruce, Thanks for the contact, my building days are over, no wind buried in the jungle, even cyclones are reduced at ground level. Mostly I just fix things for others these days.

Blondy is here atm recovering from breast cancer, due to leave me alone come Jan/Feb next year. We had to fight off the "doctors" want to give her chemo & radiation for something they cut out we had to go with a large crucifix each time. She has recovered well, put weight back on, can eat again etc.

Jane has been to Ireland and now Thailand, due back soon, hoping to score a 20+ year old selectronics inverter for her that we have just replaced at work with a modern Selectronics inverter charger. I may push it into service as is or give it a birthday, new caps.

I suspect the doctors may find your balder full of piss, just my diagnosis. Anyway you and Ilda do your best to stay healthy, with the goberment and drs trying to kill us oldies off we have to be vigilant.

Just fiddling around here, actually waiting for my mate to arrive with his trailer --we are picking up 1.5 Solar panels plus an inverter ,second hand ,not a bad deal all for $370 -he's a installer and sells recovered good stuff for beer money .

All is good , full house of sydney family over xmas ,now tonight have 2 girls and my god son arriving fro a folk festival-they are slowly on their way back to sydney.

Hope all is well with you lot , if you come down this way ,come stay with us

Hi Bruce and Ilda,

Yea mate another year has passed us by, good to hear all is going well for you two.

I don't quite know what good half a panel is but good luck, unless its a typo and you meant 15.

2017 was quite a year for me I had Blondy (aka Jo-Anne) up here for 6 or so months, she had a Brest cancer and had dropped to 45 kg. So had her up here to fatten her up and facilitate the many many appointments at Cairns Base Hospital (CBH), she is now back in Cardwell.

I lost my brother and mother this last year, I flew over to see the bro two weeks before he fell off the perch. For mother I went back for the funeral I don't normally do funerals but the sister was feeling the losses.

At my two days a week employment (here I avoid using the term work)we have now replaced both sets of batteries with gells and upgraded to Selectronic SP inverter chargers.

These were installed in December to replace a 4 year old set of wet cell Exid's, they were leaking around the posts and corroding the posts away. Sonenshine 1593 A/h @ 10 hour rate, the overnight load (15 hours) takes these down to 60 odd percent.

Not the best focused pic but does show the problem, my own batteries are suffering the same fate, it annoys me that a company that has been making batteries for 100 years can get it so wrong.

So in the last 4 years that business would have spent close to $100K on batteries and inverters. Also 4 years ago before this expenditure began I did a review for them on the overnight power requirements and recommended a small, 12Kva overnight generator. As the years have passed they look stupider and stupider, I just smile as I have 27 weeks @ two days a week before I retire again, this time for good.

I might continue in another post or day, I seem to be unable to upload any more pics.

He,s an installer and going by his workshop is very well set up .. I've asked him to let me know if he gets some interesting stuff ,I'll post it on the backshed for the fellas to fight over!

Where are you located?
Most probably too far for me to even take part in "future fights"
