Interesting article! There have been several thoughts along those lines. Thorium reactors for one. As I mentioned before in this forum, Whitlam correctly estimated if we go nuclear, we start a SE Asian nuclear arms race and since then most pollies have been opposed to nuclear despite the advances since. And Fukujima has not helped. Our neighbours in Indonesia have since built a rector anyway and the Greens claim it is on a geo. fault line! Because we have no nuclear power mixed in the Chinese can correctly claim we produce more CO2 per capita than they! Germany must now build more coal-fired plants as they envisage to shut most nuclear plants due to Green pressure, which is not what was intended. Recently a major outage of wind and sun proved problematic. Taxation as a means of achieving prosperity is like a man standing inside a bucket trying to lift himself up. Winston Churchill |
