Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hwzViMYJ6o I didn't expected Tizen to look this better. I like Sailfish OS a little more, but this one is as good as Android. It has a lot more than Sailfish in the store. When Samsung signed recently an agreement with Google, I thought that Tizen has bad luck again. I waited for this conference but I'm not in clear yet. Ubuntu Touch said that he doesn't consider Tizen a competitor anymore and is what I also thought. Hobbit name: Togo Toadfoot of Frogmorton Elvish name: Mablung Miriel Beyound Arduino Lang |

Tizen Samsung Gear 2 This time, Samsung is very serious. It really can go further without Android - Google had a serious reason to sell Motorola. But I can't see Samsung dropping Tizen anytime soon. And I see Tizen reached a point where it can be successfully sustained without Samsung if needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9qX_LFXikI Hobbit name: Togo Toadfoot of Frogmorton Elvish name: Mablung Miriel Beyound Arduino Lang |

Yeah, Google killed it by seducing Samsung. Other important device makers as Huawei retired from project. So, we won't see Tizen on smartphones but it will continue to exist and develop as an embedded operating system for TVs, wearables and other smart devices. And it may continue to be used by many hobbyists around the globe. Tizen on minnow board But what about Intel, the other important powerful Tizen developer and promoter?
Fisher highlighted Intel’s increased focus on Android developers to help improve the quality of their services and products, accelerate and scale their businesses, and unlock opportunities in the burgeoning mobile industry. He also highlighted the company’s effort to advance security in Intel based Android mobile device s and provide a dynamic experience for Android and Windows applications. Intel’s broadening focus on Android includes a new, comprehensive device developer program that will be rolled out over the next few months. As part of the program, a device developer resource portal is available today as a one stop shop for all Intel resources, including source code, documents and specs for Android on IA. Intel Build Tool Suite for Android will also be available in the coming months to automate the configuration and customization of firmware and operating system images for new devices. Local resources such as builder training events, local support teams for developers and academic programs to train tomorrow’s designers are offered through the program. Intel also released Android KitKat 4.4 with a 64bit kernel optimized for IA. With this release, the company ported, validated and tested the Android Open Source code on IA, taking on the work that developers typically would need to do on their own. This release will provide the ecosystem with 64bit kernel support for development of next generation devices. Fisher said Intel will regularly make Android code for IA available as part of the company’s effort to speed up the device development process and improve quality.
Android on Intel Platforms website! Some developers are moving to Sailfish OS And, I suppose, now everybody waits for "Android L", the new Android which is expected to provide anything which Tizen has already: security, performance, scalability. But, surprise-surprise!. Samsung is coming at IFA 2014 with "Samsung Gear S", the first call-able wearable from Samsung based on ... Tizen, of course. Of course? Didn't they switched to "Android Wear" to please Google? Previous Samsung attempts: - Samsung Gear - based on Android OS; - Samsung Gear 2 - a better version based on Tizen; - Samsung Gear Live - a switch to Android Wear. ____________________ It may be a reaction to Motorola's smart watch with it's perfect "circled" display?
