Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hello all,
I'm trying to get my cnc kit working Bought it from probotix.com the driver board is a parallel port.im using bobcad/cam software to write g code and that's another issue. bobcad wants me to pick a post processor probotix kit doesn't use drivers.
Just hopping somebody could give me some ideas if they are doing the cnc things kinda new at this.
Thanks Gary

Hi Gary

How far have you got so far? It the CNC table up and working, can you jog the axis?

What software are you using to drive the table? Mach?

I've used Bobcad before, long time ago. Don't worry about the post processor too much, just try a couple and see which one produces the g-code that's works best with your tables software.

there is normally an option to just output the raw g-code - no post processor.
not sure what it is in bobcad. Give that a whirl.

Like Glenn said though, you want to make sure your cnc machine jogs and moves in the expected directions.

I messed up with mine and wired one axis so it travels backwards compared to what it should. Most of the stuff I did with it was symetrical to begin with, so I didn't actually notice until about a month later when I tried to carve a small sign and the text came out backwards. The director of finances immediately complained that my cnc router was dsylexic.

The probotix routers are very nice looking - which model did you opt for?
