Hi All, Has anyone done anything with water or small scale hydro power as it is an intrest of mine but there is not much about. I have a small creek not far from the house and it runs all year round and did not even stop during the drought. So it the any intrest in water power/small scale hydro.

How much flow and drop does the creek have Amack? My little creek flows most of the year, but is not much more than a trickle, maybe a litre every 2 to 3 seconds, with only about 2 meters drop across the entire length. Not much good for hydro power, but good for a little hydralic ram. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Sorry for the slow reply but from the hills you know.. 
The creek has good flow most of the year not sure of the exact amount but it would be over 10 lt per second. There is not much fall only about 3-4 meters from one end of the farm to the other but it may be a bit more had to say must get the complete station out and measure it.. I think I may have posted it here in the past that I would like to run compressed air from the creek to the house and then workout what to do with it then????  Air motor?

I think any form of compressed gases for energy transfer is the most inefficient way to transfer energy, with the only exception and thats for cooling your beer. If air systems were so efficient than we would not use hydraulic systems so much. Pete. Sometimes it just works |
