Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi Guys

I've been working on a new web site and I need a couple of people to test it out for me. There's a database back end and a bit of form entry involved, I've tested it myself but the bugs usually dont show up until others do the testing.

Its motor car/bike related, old school, so someone with a interest in cars from the 50's to the 80's would be ideal.

If you think you could help, please let me know and I'll send you the link. What I need to know is if the site explains itself, and was easy enough to use.

I plan to make the site public in a week or so, I'll post the link here when I do.

Thanks
Glenn

I did read this post a day or two ago, but figured you would have got plenty of replies. (with reference to your post in the other thread)

I'm available to help if you want.
I have a big interest in 60's through 80's cars, and own several from those time periods.

Hi Glenn

I'm not really a car enthusiast although I do like looking at them but I'm happy to have a look and give my opinion about if the site explains itself and its usability etc.

Thanks for the offers Grogster and Astroboy.

I've brought the site online, now just need to get some traffic. My brother and my mechanic friend have already added stuff.

The address is https://www.thebackshed.com/autosearch/

Please have a look around, and let me know if you find any issues with it. As traffic grows ( hopefully, there's a few weeks work building the site ) there will no doubt be bugs.

Any feedback welcome.

Glenn

Hi Ian good to see your still kicking!

The site is only to help car/bike enthusiasts find and sell auto parts, and put them in contact with the buyer/seller. Its then up to them to negotiate the price. Its a free service. The hope is to get traffic to the site and earn a few dollars with advertising.

I need a favor from the forum members.

I've been working on this site for the last month and its ready to roll out, but, it needs content! If someone sees a facebook promotion, visits the site, and there's no content, they will quickly leave and not come back. Its like this forum, imagine if the first time you visited it, there were only a dozen posts!

So I'm asking forum members to visit the site, and if you have any car parts for sale or wanted, please become a member and post it. The site needs content or it will die.

If you have any comments about the site, please share.

I will try to add some wanted/for sale listings in the next day or so - I have lots of bits I need/don't need!

I will assume that my beta-testing membership and listings have been wiped, so I will sign-up proper this time.

OK, can I change password from within the site?
I used a very simple one for the testing, but should really beef it up a bit for the live version of the site.

Sure can, just log in and edit your details. There's also a password reset option if you forgot your original password.

Hi Isaiah

I've added the states for the USA. The web site knows states for the USA and Australia, and post codes for USA, Australia, UK and NZ. The post codes let you use the "within X distance of my post code" feature on the search page.

Regards
Glenn

I Couldn't find where to post on the search page.
I did see some posts there.
It will take me a bit to get use to the pages.

Thanks Isaiah

Thats the sort of feedback I need. If you go to your members page ( might have to log in first ), from there you can add parts and notifications.

But I will put a link on the search page to make it easier for others.

When your session times out, you are asked to log-in again - fine.
As you type your password in that logon screen, the password is NOT hidden.
