Hi Glenn.

sometime back I had trouble adjusting my time for the forum .

Could you advise me what needs to be done in steps (I'm sort of brain dead)

to correct the time for my area --same as yours , I guess.

I tried this morning and it said something about 10 hours offset-don't have a clue what this means ..

Hi Bruce

Go to Setting ( up the top of the page there ), then Edit Profile. Down the bottom you will see "Time offset from forum time", and it will also display the server time, wich is GMT ( Time in Greenwich, England ). In east Australia we are GMT plus 10 hours, so put + 10 in the time offset, remember to save, and the forum will add 10 hours to any times.

Had always wondered why time shown on posts was always out, now have corected mine also. Way to go.

Made my time correct as well.

(Well almost, out by 1 hour, it will be correct in winter

I must be dumb --- I've reset my time every morning (2 or 3) and it still goes back the next morning when I turn the backshed on --I press the reset button ,Etc. and all is OK for the day ,then next morning she's back a day or so .

Hi Bruce,
The time will only be correct if you are logged in so that your profile settings can work their magic.

I have found that script blocking software can toy with the time and very rarely, I see an old page that has been cached somewhere??? I cant decide if it is my computer or Telstra playing with my sanity.

I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

Thanks for that --So everytime I connect to "THEBACKSHED" I have to login to get the time thingo correct ?

Up to now I've just opened up the "THEBACKSHED' and read the posts,replied,Etc.

Thanks for your help,,I don't think I'll ever come to grips with this "computer-age". Thank god for the Bar Fridge,Workshop,and guys like you that help this Moron out from time to time.

Hi Crew ,, don't want to sound like a scratched record , but my time set is still not fixed . Every morning I switch on it is a few days late . Does this mean every time I switch on ,I have to "log-in"??.

Up the top of the page, you have "settings". If you select that then "edit profile" then down the bottom you have an login option button just above the time zone bit. It should be set to on. Then update your profile and it automatically should log you on each time and leave your time as you had set it.

yes, the automatic log-in is in the "on" state.

I reset the time this morning and just now opened the forum again and it was back to 5th jan. again .

So, I don't know what I'm doing wrong ,,maybe I can call someone on my phone and they can walk me through ?

5th Jan!

Now something isn't right there. At worst is should only be 1 day late, like if you were on Hawaii time or something.

This is how you should have it set up....

The time offset should be + 10, and dont forget to click the "Update Profile" button to save.

Also, where on the forum is the time that you are looking at? Is it the time stamp at the top of each post, like this screen shot of the post I made above...

If you look at that post, your should see the same time, 11 January 2013 at 8:48am. If its differenet, what is it?

Well, it's 1.50 am and I just got up for a drink.. Turned on "thebackshed" to check the time set , best I get is 5Th january --- til I log in .

been doing this for weeks-all the reset,ETC don't seem to work

I just logged in and yep she's ok ,,but if I don't log in , nothing shows past 5 jan.

Stumped--- It's got me --

Have tried every day to get this thing properly "dated" on opening -no luck .

It's ok once I log in ,but if I don't log in and just start reading the posts, then it goes back to 5th Jan .

once I log in ,it's ok for that full day . Then the next morning ,it reverts back to 5th jan-- until I once again
"log in" .then it's fine for that day.

Hi Bruce,
I hope the 5th was a good day for you seeing as you are reliving it everyday.

I have got a couple of suggestions for you.

Get the forum home page on the browser window without being logged in and do a "hard refresh". you hit control-R, I think from memory, Ctrl-F5 works as well.

Next thing to try would be to empty the browsers cache of web content.
In firefox its click on "firefox" then "options", "options" again, then click on the "advanced" tab and select the "network" tab.

As you can see I have 1.8Mb of data cached, hit the "clear now" button I have highlighted blue to clear it.

Third thing you could try is clearing the cookies, same as before. firefox, options, options, then "privacy" tab, there is a "show cookies" button that opens a new window that has a button "clear all cookies".

If you put "how to clear browser cache" in google I am sure you will get instructions for the other browsers come up.

This advice comes with my standard 20/20 warranty. 20 metres down the road from my shed or 20 seconds, whichever happens first.

I haven't got a clue how to get that page that you show --sorry mate. I'm as thick as two short planks when it comes to touching this thing --it will be easier for me to log -in every day . Until i get this thing to a puter tech.

I think years ago I used MIRC -so maybe thats my trouble ..

I probbly could get it fixed if someone can call me -07 55453513 and I'll call them back ..

I would not bother about it too much, as long as the latest posts are showing up on the screen and your computer is still running OK. I think the problem will go away when you get someone to give it a spring clean.

I am comfortable working in Greenwich mean time, I run a couple of extra clocks to remind me what the UTC and New York time is, but hardly look at them these days.

For you blokes in QLD it is easy, look at the time, subtract 10 hours, compare that to the last post to see how old it is.

I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...
