There could be symptoms like "Reduced ampere of hour capacity. Increases of internal resistance. If the sealed lead acid batteries begin to die then one and only option i.e replacement. Agm Batteries |

Been a while, not much changed. Ended up with another 12V battery that added to system in parallel. Second one is ex-car ordinary lead acid with access to 6 cells, slightly opaque, so liquid can be seen from outside. Car still started, but supposedly battery was on a way out. Got the new one and kept this one. Bad Ah match, but no problem. Now batteries have 12.7V in the morning. Checked AGM few times and liquid doesn't seem to drop at all. George |

Hi George My main bank is AGM batteries second hand and have been running desulphators on them for 4 years and they responded and increased capacity over three months so providing the battery is sound they will respond positively one other lot I tried was cooked by overcharging and they all died. Pure theory says not to put them with FLA batteries but in practice I have found that it works with a desulphator because you do not have to push the upper limit to 16 volts to get them to desulphate. Got couple of 40Ah 12V deep cycle batteries so cheap I could not resist. They are connected but kind of separate, as they hold over 13V for a month or more without being topped up. Every night they are disconnected from other batteries. Rest of my menagerie drops down to 12.8V in the morning. Bit of a hassle and not every day I can reconnect them. Once we didn't have electricity and all my batteries run fridge for close to 6 hours. I know nothing special, but for me quite an achievement. Checked my AGM recently, there was still some water above cells so didn't have to do anything. George |

Actually cut open two of the SLA batteries for my old Metz Camera flashes a few months back. They showed voltage, but would not take current or provide current to a load. 6 volt & rather an odd size & terminal configuration. What I found was that the cells were completely dry & all the Positive plates (Think it was the positive ones), were substantially decayed. The other plates were relatively Ok. Cheers Phil. |

Not sure if opening batteries you damaged them. I opened my AGM by just removing glued cover. Underneath there were rubber cups. After removing them I added bit of distilled water. Not sure how much energy it can retain now, but year or so later battery still holds 12.8V in the morning. The way I use my batteries is actually during the day when Sun is shining. On overcast days I only use them to partially charge phone and tablet. I try to have above 13V for the night. Also, when I know that it will be hard to get 13V before Sun goes down, I disconnect my deep cycle batteries, sometimes I do not connect them at all, so they stay above 13V George |

Hi..as per my knowledge all batteries, as they can and will blow up in you'r face. Some AGM batteries have a thin plastic/vinal covering over the access holes, you may be able to refill them with distilled water, or at least be able to check the individual cells. pcb assembly services |
