Hi, I have an existing solar system on the roof of my house with 10 * 190 watt panels and a 2.3kw grid tied inverter. My question is ,given my max solar output throughout summer that I observed was about 1675watts about 5pm one hot afternoon can I add a couple of more panels to the existing system. Is it difficult to do and would it be safe given the inverter is rated at 2.3 and 12 panels would have a potential of 2280watts and in practice closer to 1900 watts.
Thanks
Brian

To give an answer on that the exact model of the solar panels and inverter have to be known.

Every inverter has a maximum voltage it can accept in from the solar system. As an example mine can take up to 400v input. Depending on what the solar panels produce they have to be arranged in a manner that will not exceed that ever.

As a total guess going to 12 might mean you having to re-wire the solar array into 2 groups of 6.

And from what I heard you have to take lowest temperature with bit of safety margin, as there is from time to time set new record low temperature too.

Here what I heard might be another problem, as Inverter needs to have more than minimum and preferably optimum Voltage delivered for good performance.

So 6 panels will have to be checked if can satisfy this requirement.
