I have scored some 50mm welding cable for my inverter..

Would anybody know of a 50mm crimp terminal that goes into a circuit breaker inlet tunnel.. I've seen them up to 16mm cable with a spade like section , but can't find listed anything for 50mm cable -you see my breakers have a max of 25mm cable entry.

can get plenty of the hole terminations.

Usually a breaker is sized with a current rating to protect the installed cable size.

For "normal" mains power distribution it would be very unusual to fit (say) a 30 Amp circuit breaker directly to a 200 Amp cable, which is why the hardware to do it would not be a commonly available off the shelf item.

What I would do, is step down the end of the 50mm cable to 16mm, crimp it, and then solder all the loose strands together and onto the crimp lug into one solid lump.
Then cover it with heat shrink.

That should work and look reasonably neat.

Hello Bruce

all my welding leads are terminated with half inch copper water line. Once you have flattened the tube with the wire in it, try to fold the tube in half with a cold chissel in the vice so that the wire end of the tube looks like two U. Guaranteed not to come undone. Cheap and nasty. Best wishes

You can get stalk lugs up to 630mm2. They have a solid reduced size pin at the end.
Cabac part No CS50/10 = 50mm2, with a 10mm OD pin.

The other option is reducers. Buy a 50mm to 16mm. Then crimp some 16mm2 stranded in the small end to make it a stalk lug.
Assuming of course you have access to a hydraulic hex crimper and not just a punch crimp.

Thanks Crew , I have searched and come up with the above ..So have you,thanks for your efforts.

hey, this is big fella cable ,got it new, from a roll at the scrap dealers.

I have a hydraulic crimper ,so the lugs ,with all your interest, are now "not a problem".

The Tracker project moves along ,I'm half crippled with this "gout" ,but she's getting better. At the stage of drilling and fitting the side strengthening braces as Glenn suggested .

I'm not worried about time,it will get finished when the cable is finally connected ..

"inlet tunnel" could not get my mind past that, what were you trying to achieve?

Hi Allan, Oh, "inlet tunnel" --the clamp bit that the cable goes into --

I was lucky ,bought some large (35mm) cable pins ,so the termination problem is now solved .

Put those side braces(50x50 angle) along the long sides as Glenn suggested --that has strengthened it up a lot..

This project is taking a very long time , but you all have to understand, I'm half crippled with this bloody gout in my knees, toes and ankles. Hoping I'll improve as I get the Uric acid levels down . Reckon it's not a quick fix ..

Apart from that , I'm having a nice time putting this together, I cut ,weld, drill, cold gal ,paint and in the end it's going to be a nice jobbie.

"I gotta get out of this Jungle" ,,,gee Al I remember saying that on a mountain in PNG in 1980. the friggin helicopter could not get in to the landing pan for fog . My "Boys" and I ended up climbing DOWN the mountain to a dirt road where the chopper was waiting. only took 2 hours ,only . We fell most of the way ..
