I am considering replacing my current diesel 6hp water transfer pump with a solar powered unit. Can any one give me some pointers? First investigation lead me to a Mono pump system model CP800 which uses a 600w panel and a 560w pump. |

Maby pm forum member oztules, I read he bought some panels for water pumping and he may have some first hand experiance. There are quite a few pump use threads on the northern arizona wind and sun forum. I hope this helps gww |

Hi Graeme I use a 12 volt pump double ended flowpump I got on ebay about $100 from memory it will pump up to a 60 foot head and it does open flow 40 liters a minute it has been going for several years now providing water pressure for the house. Open head it draws about 6.5 amps and up to 15 amps on pressure 35 lb sq in. I tried it on 24 volts and it goes faster and draws less amps but may not last as long, I think it would be OK on two 12 volt panels in parallel with a small battery or capacitor bank to aid starting. As long as you do not expect a flow rate like your Lister setup. All the best Bob Foolin Around |

Hi Graeme, Some info would be handy to help with " some pointers ". So what volumes are you transferring/pumping and how regularly and at what head pressure ? What would you expect the solar pump to do and cost ? PhillM ...Oz Wind Engineering..Wind Turbine Kits 500W - 5000W ~ F&P Dual Kits ~ GOE222Blades- Voltage Control Parts ------- Tower kits |

If you can afford it go with the Mono pump. I have a similar pump but a solar bore pump by Lorentz it has been operating no drama for 8 years. Had a little problem at first but fixed under warranty. The Mono pump has the ability to handle a little solid matter and they have a top rep, once I have finished and proven a dam I have been constructing for many years I`ll probably go with the Mono Sunny Buddy CP800, it floats on dam. But as Fillm has pointed out depends what you want to achieve and in particular how much you wish to spend. We come from the land downunder. Vic |
