Hi!!! i bought the book of hugh piggott, "a wind turbine recipe book", i build it and itīs working nicely. i like very much how easy and effective is his design. For shure there are others designs much more efficient, but what i liked most of it, is that his design is simple, robust, works, and was tested and tested and tested.... Now i want to have some hot water, do you know anything similar to "the piggott windmill recip book" but for solar water heating???. Thanks you very very much!!!! |

Hi There is lots of good stuff on the builditsolar site. In particular try builditsolar. I found a stack of frost damaged panels at the local scrap yard and have repaired three of them and they heat our spa 3 seasons. In winter they provide about half the heat. I have four more which I plan to set up to pre-heat water entering our electric cylender. Both systems will be drain-back types as described on the website above. Have a look at the "The $1K Solar Water Heating System" section. David |

Nice to build your own but if you look around on Ebay and Gumtree you can buy second hand at a good price. I got a 300 litre rheem that was not pumping, turned out the controller was RS. I built a new controller using an Arduino for well under $50. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |
