Hi Guys,
I have just bought one of those Wellsee 12/24v MPPT controllers, it has panel +- battery +- and Load +- The battery and load lights are on green is this because the batteries are fully charged, I have a LVD on the batteries connected to the inverter (the LVD is for my Wind Turbine side) so if there was enough power in the batteries the lvd would kick in and start the inverter, so Im wondering why the green load light is on.

I dont have anything connected to the Load connections at the moment, as the solar panel isnt connected yet, waiting for a cable with MC4 connectors. What do you guys use as a load? Im running 4 x 12volt batteries set up as 24volts.

Should I connect the inverter to the load connections?

Sorry if the post is confusing, Im new to the solar side of RE.

Cheers.

Hi Paul

The load terminal is only for a low rated load like lighting, radio or stereo, usually about the same output as the input rating of the regulator, connect the battery to the bat + and bat- connections and connect the inverter direct to the battery.

On the one I have the load connection turns off when the batt voltage goes to low, so you could use it as control for the inverter to save running your batteries to flat.

All the best

You'll find that the 'Wellsee is not doing any MPPT. I tested one and the input Amps were always equal to the output Amps.
Its a reasonable controller though, I was offered a return by the E-bay seller but decided to keep it to control the solar panels charging the battery on my trailer sailor.

Thanks for the replies guys

Well my LVD which is connected to my inverter now has the sensor wires connected to the LOAD on my Controller and the feed wires are connected to the battery, the panel is connected to the controller and the batteries are connected to the controller......I now have free power from the sun

I never thought sitting outside watching some flashing lights would EVER be exciting.....hsahahaha!!

Paul

Mate, this is great! I have 170watts going through the inverter

The panel only cost me $200 and its a BP Solar 220w Poli, Brand New.

I love this free energy thing.....The commi government will make it illegal soon enough when no-one is buying power through ETSA.

Thanks for all the advice you have given me Bob!!!!

Regards,
Paul

ps. the Mrs would kill me if I was to buy anything else

Hi Paul

Sounds real good, one warning though it is addictive, so by the wife some perfume of something appropriate (not an Axe).

Remember the Rabbit principal when dealing with the government.

All the best
