Just curious on what the DC feed voltage is from the Solar panels to the Grid feed inverter?

solar panels are strung in series to meet the input voltage criteria of the inverter that is fitted. You will have to find and download the spec sheet for a specific inverter as they are all different.

I can remember the numbers for an Aurora PVI 6000 AU. (6.2Kw)
this is for two equal inputs with 2 or 4 strings

minimum volt 90v or 126V (clamped to grid but not producing power)
Clamping/starting Voltage 200 volt (can be altered from 120V to 350V)
full power range 180-530volt (max power point tracking)
min/max 90 volt 580 volt
safety shutdown voltage 600volt

range of maximum efficiency 300 to 480 volts (this is the voltage range that each string of panels should produce on an average day to reap maximum $ return.)Edit: without shortening the life of the inverter or flaunting the electrical standards.
You can have a hot inverter or an old inverter but not a hot old inverter.

there are low voltage grid feed inverters 12,24,48,72 to 120 volts but they are mostly designed to run with a battery bank.

Thanks for that Yahoo. Im used to 12v Solar systems off line, & wondered why there was HV warning stickers on solar panels on house roofs. So they are using HV DC from the Solar panels & using that to create a sine wave to feed the grid. Not using a LV DC to HV inverter. I gues that makes for a cheeper inverter. Daryl
