Top job Bruce! Good to see some panels on it.

Yeah your right about the 50vdc, its a dangerous voltage and should be treated like 120/240vac. You and me Bruce both have a background with telecoms, so we understand the problems with 50(48)volts. 50v wont kill you directly, but it can make you twitch unexpectantly, which isn't a good think when your on a ladder, or have sharp obstacles near by. I have several scars on my hands from my days working on 50v as a Telecom technician.

That is a beautiful photo Bruce. looks like it should be on the front cover of a shiny brochure.
I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

Yes, thanks yahoo. It's a nice place up here around Mt.Tamborine, west of the gold coast. It actually took me ,maybe, 2 minutes to buy this place ,my sister was in the car (had not even got out) ,said "you haven't even seen inside ,you idiot".

Anyhow , I've spent a lot on it and built a great workshop under, so I'm happy.

The solar tracker---- Yep ,she's coming alone at a bruce pace, (slow), but things are strong, fully galvanized, much as possible, and plastic painted, should hold up to the weather for 10 years..

I'm fitting side angle iron bracing along the long sides ,probably continue this around the ends.

I have a couple 24v gate closer actuators in Brisbane that I might buy . I've got all the connecting cables dug in and nearly terminated-using 16mm square building cable for the panel supply to the workshop. the control/interface panel box is nearly finished.

Thanks for the nice comment..

Outstanding work Bruce. Really innovative use of local materials for a professional and very strong mounting system.
Been waiting for this!

Thanks Bill.

update--- have gout in my ankle and knee ,,so climbing is out ,or has been out for a couple weeks,,it's getting better ,as I show my leg the axe i'm sharpening, lol.

I have cabled 200Ah bank of batteries with 100 Amp breakers and have charged them .

Yesterday, I bought some breaker mounting boxes and will finish off the connection to the 6Kw inverter soon,, . AC will go to a standard breaker box with a couple of GPO's mounted in it . The other breakers will supply more circuits throughout the house as I need them ,mainly concentrating on refrigerators ,the big TV , and workshop gear.( my daily power bill is just $2.20 per day ,, so it's not a big saving).

Hope to get back to finishing the solar tracker soon, then the actuator bits will be fun .

Hi Folks,,

Back into wiring a panel for my solar input--

The yellow wire controls the on/off of the Solid State Relay which disconnects the solar from battery at the "set point" voltage.

wiring in progress

Cheers

Bruce
