4KW poly crystalline panels consisting of
20 x 196W panels
2 solarking 2.3KW inverters
mounting hardware

all up $14K +my installer who will be about $800 plus a few bits and pieces
(which im sure will be another $400)

Less RECS rebate 154 for 1.5KW then 51 for 2.5KW
call it 205 @ $42 $8610.

If anyone knows a RECS trader they would recommend let me know so I can work out what
needs to be done and get the ball rolling.

I'll be stumping up for the lot, then waiting anxiously for the rebate!

At $6500 all up for 4KW, even with no FIT at todays electricity prices I'll be paid back in 4 years -no complaints with that.

I'm interested in any replies too.

You can approach them individually or (I think! from memory) you can post your RECs on the ORER site and wait for a bite.

(I know there are a bunch of them on the ORER.ORG.AU site. Have contacted a couple, but they 'weren't buying' at the time - not that I had anything to 'sell' anyway!)

Some of them seem to be tied to companies, some appear to be independents.

Karl, that 2KW Solarking inverter looks like a 600W/1200 watt peak device (a bit short of 2000 W?), or have I missed the correct one on their site?

spec sheet solarking inverter

should be good, transformerless etc

looks like my installer will do the whole job (me helping of course)
for an inverter (reckons he can sell it for far more and keen to try out at that money)

Hi Karl,

You need the installer to wire the panels for the highest possible open cct panel voltage, to be around 450VDC. These are 500VDC max input and transformerless, so high voltage gives highest efficiency. They have a boost cct that cuts in at low voltage, so under 320VDC this would be working. The key is the max rating of 10ADC as well, as derating will occur at currents above this.

I appreciate all these factors but there is a fundamental problem with your theory

10x27V =270V and 10x190 W= 1900W
now they will take upto max solar input of 2300W
so could run 12 panels giving roughly 330V

Plan is one string will be 11 panels of which 5 face North and 6 face NW.
2nd string is 10panels.

I would like to run 12 on that string but problem is cost, this thing just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Ive already gone from $1500 out of pocket for 1.5KW to $8500 get the 4.
every other panel is worth $500 - 4RECS so those other two panles are another $700.

INstaller wanted $800/KW for install, and i beat him down to an inverter $1550.
and I pay for all bits and pieces
which so far has run to
$80 -6.0mm x 15m from inverters back to board
$88 IP66 enclosure, label kit, DC breaker
$70 IP65 enclosures x 3 and 3xDC breakers and misc glands (ahh ebay!!)
$10 20A Circuit Breaker (meter end) and 2x 10A circuit breakers (inverter end)
2x 4place DIN rail CB boxes indoor.

Will also need some 4.0mm cable for panels to inverter and flex conduit and some penetration glands

all adds up quickly! -I see $500 here in bits easily and I see my rail and bracket est being blown out soon too.
