Hi, we have 6 x BP3155 polycrystalline 155W panels on our roof (in Adelaide), and a Sunny Boy 1700W inverter so there's spare capacity in the inverter. Does anyone have suggestions for the most cost-effective way of adding panels to better utilise the inverter capacity? Can I do this myself? All advice appreciated. |

darn it hit a key and lost my post here we go again. SPECS here SMA SB1700 Flog the BP panels on ebay, should get $3K or more for them. WHY? probably cant get matching panels and if you can filthy expensive. like these BP165W My tip from here, go monocrystalline, smaller for the same output as you have now, freeing up space for more panels on the same racks (not much but some nonetheless) get 24-36V (open circuit voltages) panels and run the full 2KW max input the inverter is rated for, after 12months their output will have sellted at somewhere around 1800W (factoring -5% tolerance on the panels for cheapies and -5% in the first year) peak output and we're coming up on winter so expect 5%drop in the first year for most panels. This using the panels on the site, look through more solar threads at $2.50/W will set you back $5K and you should get ~$3K for the BP panels on EBAY, asking $500+ each for them. All up you are out $2K spend $1000 with a sparkie and all will be legit/ safe and the inverter will deliver the 1700W to the grid most of summer. Luck favours the well prepared |

Hi, thanks, I'd love to know where solar panels are $2.50W; the BP165's are currently at $11, and the best I'm seeing in my web-searching is about $4.50 |
