Hi, I am about to rebuild my house and want to incorporate solar with inverter to put back into the grid when possible. Just starting my research to prepare plans before work comences. Any pointers to reference material to aid design process would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks to all, Justdoit! Do it right or don't bother. |

Hi Justdoit Your in the southern hemisphere, so make sure you have a north facing roof to mount your panels to. Also check there are no tree's that will grow up to shade your panels in the future. Drop in to the local electriity board, they should have some info on grid connect inverters and their rules and requirements. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

I think that a large flat north facing roof of the appropriate pitch would be a good start. I would imagine better efficiency gains can be made by managing the shading and warmth from passive means rather than from a solar system. A spot for a solar hot water service would be good. The cheapest way to make a house energy efficient is to make it of modest size. What you need rather than the grand trophy house. It is also a lot cheaper. |
