As this is the third inverter unit of this type that I have had on my solar system that has failed ( this one GFCI Fault) I have come to the conclusion that they are not very reliable. Is there a cost effective way of repairing these units or am I stuck with an extra boat anchor?

Is it a false ground fault or is there actually a ground fault?

I don't believe that there is a real ground fault as replacing the inverter last time cleared the issue.

What happened last time does not mean it has to be the same this time.

They seem to be pretty crap inverters.
I have a number of them. Picked some up from the scrap bin at a local solar installers place ( 6 of these, only 1 of another type that was still working) and got a couple of buggered ones from used systems I have bought.

I an see why they are chucked. I believe the common fault is a relay that is about $60.
When I can buy used 4 Kw working inverters for 80- $100, spending that on a 1.5 or 2 Kw isn't worth it.

wondering what the big round, finned Components are? Mosfets? Caps?
Anything useful in these inverters for other projects other than the huge heat sinks?
Got to part these out and get rid of them ans they are taking up too much space.

Have you looked on Whirlpool? There is more likely to be others who have posted there about it.

Thanks Madness I had let google do a search some weeks back and it did locate some discussion on Whirlpool forum about the SPH15 units but no service info.
